I bought the Moza R9 wheelbase and CS wheel for my first foray into direct drive systems. At just under £650 combined, this setup offers tremendous value compared with other direct drive offerings, comparing favourably with the Fanatec CSL DD, for example.
As an upgrade from a belt drive wheelbase (Thrustmaster T500RS) the difference is immediately noticeable – the feedback is precise, smooth and instant. Fine tuning your feedback is a bit more involved, but thankfully Moza’s Pit House software is a delight, and simple to use. I have been very pleased with the feedback from this wheelbase, and can’t imagine needing more power output than the rated 9NM.
The unit itself is solidly built and very compact, which has helped me mount the monitor as close to me as possible on my rig. For those wondering, the R9 can be mounted directly to the wheel plate on the Sim Lab GT1 EVO cockpit. Only two of the bolts line up with the holes in the plate at a time, however I didn’t find this to be a problem a problem, as the wheelbase doesn’t move at all once bolted. The quick release system is another highlight on this base, offering a satisfying clunk once engaged, and with zero play in the mechanism.
Very easy to recommend this wheelbase, and thanks to Ben at Abruzzi for great customer service, keeping me updated on my order and answering my questions quickly. Cheers!

Straight off the bat this product is fantastic. I was upgrading from a Logitech wheel and wanted to move to a direct drive unit. To start with I was drawn to Fanatec products. I was able to road test them for a couple of weeks but was turned off by some of their pricing and the availability issues. After some research I decided to go with the Moza unit. It was cheaper and seemed to offer much of the same functionality.
On receiving the product it was well packaged a stupidly easy to install. I was a little worried that the software would be a pain to use but no. Easy to install and I was up and running in minutes. I hate having to use additional bits of software but I have nothing but good things to say about Moza Pithouse. Absolutely no issues to report.
In use I find the R9 to be fantastic. FFB is smooth and strong. Obviously how it actually feels is highly configurable to taste, but I was quickly able to get it set to a point where I much preferred it to the Fanatec I used. Couldn’t be happier! It’s so good that as things stand I can’t see why you would need more.
A quick note on the service from Abruzzi. Fantastic customer service with all questions answered quickly. Again couldn’t ask for more. They remained polite and helpful even when I became a little impatient (I knew the items were back ordered but really wanted to get my hands on them!). A big thank you to Abruzzi and a great product.

Upgraded from a Logitech G923 and the difference is night and day. A few teething issues to begin with but with the ongoing support and patches from Moza directly those are becoming a thing of the past. Highly recommend.
